If you are thinking about joining us for Sunday morning, we expect that you will have many questions. We hope that the following FAQ will be of some help.
The pandemic continues here in Ontario. In Alma however, compared to the rest of the province, we are enjoying a few more freedoms. What that means is that we are open for Sunday morning worship. If you wish to join our services “in person”, we require that you contact the church office before end of day Saturday, with your name and the name of each of the others who are in your group.
Should contact tracing become necessary, we are required to keep a full listing of names and contact information of all those physically present in the building. Having a full list in advance also helps us to ensure that we have proper seating arrangements to comply with our capacity restrictions and physical distancing. Your co-operation in contacting us in advance will be a great help to us in reaching these goals. To register for Sunday morning, simply send an email to the church office.
Here in the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph health district, we have some other restrictions that we are required to comply with:
- Capacity restrictions (percentage of building capacity)
- Health screening at the door
- Physical distancing as much as possible
- Masks are required at all times
We understand that some people may have questions as to our efforts at complying with these restrictions. Some may think we have gone too far, while others may feel we have not done enough. We simply ask that you please be patient with us.
If you are considering joining us in person, please be sure of the following:
- You are comfortable with the measures that we are taking in our church building
- You show no signs or symptoms of any illness including COVID-19
- You are not at high risk if you contract COVID-19
If however any of the following apply to you, then we would encourage you to take advantage of our live stream option.
- You have traveled outside of the country in the last 14 days
- You have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 symptoms
- You have any symptoms of COVID-19 or another sickness
If you are in a higher risk category because you are immune compromised, or over the age of 65 or you are a vulnerable person susceptible to COVID-19 for any other reason, please consider taking advantage of the online option.
We understand that in making your decision there are many factors that need to be taken into account, as to whether you should attend in person or online. We pray that wherever you participate from, you are blessed and feel just as much a part of our church family as everyone else.
Our service will start at 10am. We encourage you to arrive early so that the ushers can see you to a seat in time for the service to start. As we require that you contact us in advance of your arrival on Sunday, we will have a record of your coming, and will have made the appropriate seating arrangements for you and those in your party.
When you arrive you’ll enter through the main doors under the car-port. As you enter the first set of doors, there will be someone there to greet you and conduct the screening. If you pass the screening, you will be asked to sanitize your hands. You will then be directed to the main sanctuary doors or the gym. An usher will greet you and will direct you to your seat.
Masks are mandatory, however if you don’t have one, there will be some available as you enter. The only washroom available will be the barrier free / wheelchair accessible washroom beside the nursery, in the foyer. It will be cleaned and disinfected between each use. As the weather is getting colder, we also ask that you keep all of your belongings with you.
Please bring activities to occupy your children if needed. ALL Church items will be locked away.
We will worship together online and in person as one church body.
Yes, we are still offering our live stream. The live stream will begin at 10am, and you will be able to enjoy all the same parts of the service as those who are worshiping in person.
While exceptions are being granted for Sunday morning worship, and By Peaceful Waters counseling services, we kindly ask that you refrain from entering the building throughout the rest of the week. We have procedures in place to ensure that the building is clean and safe and remains that way. Your cooperation in this effort will help towards ensuring the ongoing health of Church staff, and volunteers who need to enter the building.
