Leadership

Mark McCready

Senior Pastor

Pastor Mark McCready came to Alma Bible Church in August of 2010. Prior to coming to Alma he had served in some form of rural Pastoral ministry for close to 10 years. He began by doing some itinerant work while living in Colorado. Then, on completing his M.Div., he moved to Bancroft, Ontario where he served as full time Pastor of Bancroft Bible Chapel (2004-2010).

Mark originally trained in the area of Finance and Economics completing a Bachelor of Business Administration with an Economics Option at Wilfrid Laurier University (1994). Following his undergraduate work, he moved to Toronto and worked for W.F. Morneau and Associates (1994-2000) now known as Morneau Shepell.

While working in Toronto, he sensed God calling him to Pastoral ministry, and so he and his wife relocated to Denver Colorado where he completed his Masters of Divinity at Denver Seminary (2004).

Mark was born and raised in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. He is happily married to his wife of 20 years, and together they have two beautiful girls.

Luke Playford

Associate Pastor

Luke Playford currently serves at Alma Bible Church as an Associate Pastor and has been attending Alma since the age of 11. After high school Luke attended the Word of Life Bible Institute in Owen Sound, ON. It was there that he completed a two year diploma in biblical studies. The two years that Luke spent there were very integral to his faith as it was there that God called Luke into pastoral ministry. Luke also met his wife, Bailey, at Word of Life and together they have been married since May of 2016. The Lord has blessed them with three beautiful boys named, Layne, Greyson, and Jace.

Luke has a Bachelor of Theology with a Minor in Pastoral Studies that he received from Heritage Bible College and Seminary in the spring of 2017. He loves to use the gifts that God has given him to serve the Church of Jesus Christ. Luke is passionate about serving the youth group here at Alma and is passionate about seeing others changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Luke enjoys drumming with the praise teams on Sunday as well as playing many different sports.

Yvonne deBoer

Administrative Assistant

Yvonne and her husband Allen have been members of Alma Bible Church for 26 years. They are proud parents of 3 young men and are thrilled to be called Papa and Meme by a precious granddaughter. They served on staff with New Tribes Missions of Canada in maintenance and student relations roles for 5 years. In her spare time, she enjoys creating, planting & weeding in her flower beds, reading, crafts and home decorating. As time allows, she travels with her husband in the tour bus industry and enjoys planning trips and meeting new people. Through the years, the Bible verse Philippians 4:7 has been precious to her. “And the Peace of God which surpasses all understanding shall guide your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus”.

Elders

While Alma Bible Church employs a Pastor, we are really an elder run church. Pastor Mark and a number of other men serve as elders, setting the vision, and providing the pastoral care needed to the many who call Alma Bible Church home.

Those currently serving as elders in addition to our Senior Pastor include the following:   Merle Martin, Mike Martin and Verden Martin and Paul Weber.

Deacons

Alma Bible Church also has Deacons who work hard to take care of the physical needs of the church. These Deacons not only deal with the needs of the physical building but are also charged with watching out for needs in our Alma church community.

Volunteers

One of the reasons that Alma is such a great place to be is that we have so many people that work together well.  Alma, while having staff and leadership teams, is run by an army of volunteers.  They serve on committees, they serve quietly behind the scenes.  So much of what happens here at Alma, happens because people have been willing to sacrifice time, energy and resources.   Be sure to thank the volunteers for all their hard work.
